Behind the scenes of Surrealitalia at Malpensa Airport.
In 2016 I was presenting the photographic exhibition “Sri Lanka: Immagini in Viaggio”.
While I was exhibiting at the Ospedale Maggiore in Lodi, I thought of proposing the project in other public spaces.
I was able to interface with the artistic direction of the Milan airport spaces.
Immediately there was interest in my photographic proposal, specifying also the the long waiting times and construction of an exhibition within these spaces.
Also because, at that time, there was no exhibition space.
In fact, the idea of creating this space was born thanks to my proposal and for me this thing has immense value.
Time passed and after a few months I was asked if I had a more thematic and less wide-ranging photographic project as it was on Sri Lanka.
Just at that time I was proposing the latest photographs taken in Italy and from this request there was the input that led me to “pack” the project “Surrealitalia”.
Project that is born in function of this space.
From the beginning there was a very positive feedback and the desire to expose me to Malpensa became even more evident.
I have never failed to trust those who have believed in me and the desire to expose the project.
Several months after my proposal I started to propose Surrealitalia with previews of 10 photographs.
First in Paullo (MI) in the summer and then in Lodi, again at the Ospedale Maggiore, in the Christmas period.
Just as I was exposed in Lodi, I received the call with the official date of the exhibition at Malpensa.
On 9 March I opened and it was really fantastic to finally see this group project completed, which not only sees me involved as an author with my shots, but also saw me participate indirectly in the creation of a space that is a small cultural contribution in the airport context.
The exhibition will remain on display until the end of May / beginning of June.

A Malpensa la mostra personale sull’Italia.
Nel 2016 stavo presentando la mostra fotografica “Sri Lanka: Immagini in Viaggio”.
Mentre ero esposto presso l’Ospedale Maggiore di Lodi pensai di propormi in altri spazi pubblici.
Ebbi modo di interfacciarmi con la direzione artistica degli spazi aeroportuali di Milano.
Da subito c’è stato interesse verso la mia proposta fotografica, specificandomi anche quali fossero i lunghi tempi di attesa e di costruzione di un’esposizione all’interno dell’aeroporto.
Anche perché in quel periodo non esisteva alcuna zona espositiva dedicata.
Di fatto l’idea di creare questo spazio nacque grazie alla mia proposta e per me questa cosa ha un valore immenso.
Il tempo passò e dopo qualche mese mi venne chiesto se avessi un progetto fotografico più tematico e meno di ampio respiro come fu quello sullo Sri Lanka.
Proprio in quel periodo stavo proponendo le ultime fotografie scattate in Italia e da questa richiesta ci fu l’input che mi portò a “confezionare” il progetto “Surrealitalia”.
Progetto che nasce quindi in funzione di questo spazio.
Da subito c’è stato un feedback molto positivo e la volontà di espormi a Malpensa divenne ancor più evidente.
Non ho mancato mai di fiducia in coloro che han creduto in me e nella voglia di esporre il progetto.
A diversi mesi dalla mia proposta ho cominciato a proporre Surrealitalia con delle anteprime di 10 fotografie.
Prima a Paullo (MI) nel periodo estivo e poi a Lodi, sempre all’Ospedale Maggiore, nel periodo Natalizio.
Proprio mentre ero esposto a Lodi mi arrivò la chiamata con l’ufficialità dell’esposizione a Malpensa.
Il 9 Marzo ho inaugurato ed è stato davvero fantastico poter finalmente vedere a compimento questo progetto di gruppo che non solo mi vede coinvolto come autore coi miei scatti, ma mi ha visto anche partecipe in modo indiretto della creazione di uno spazio che è un piccolo contributo culturale nel contesto aeroportuale.
La mostra rimarrà esposta fino a fine maggio/ inizio di giugno.
